A Message to the Troops from Congress

screenshot087.jpg

“For The Boys One day the U.S. Congress may change allegiance and support al-Qaeda instead of the sons and daughters of their own constituents…

They will denounce the terrorist leadership as incompetent.  Condemn the insurgency for atrocities befitting Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot.  Seek ways of cutting off funds for the failed jihad and prevent terrorist networks from eavesdropping on suspected American agents.  And mock the rank and file as dupes who wasted their lives for a Paradise that doesn’t exist.

Not only would it undermine Islamic terrorists everywhere, it would free our troops from bearing the burden of such supporters.

That is one theory.

The other theory is no one would notice.”

Fighting Corporate Media Consolidation Is More Important Than Fighting Terrorism

“If you’re not convinced that defending America from terrorism has become a partisan issue, then you need look no further than the latest poll from the Daily Kos:

That just goes to show you the mentality with which Democrats approach terrorism now that they think it’s not an important electoral issue because Joe Lieberman lost his primary.

At this point, less than 5 years after 9/11, amazing as it may seem, what it all comes down to is that…

— Democrats have forgotten 9/11 and Republicans haven’t.

— Republicans take fighting terrorism seriously and Democrats don’t.

— Republicans believe we’re in a war on terrorism and Democrats don’t.

It sad, it’s shameful, but defending America from foreign threats is every bit a political issue as abortion or gun control and — yes, there is one Party that believes in stopping terrorism and one Party that doesn’t.”

Sam Johnson, Veteran War Hero, Puts The Democrats in Congress to Shame

screenshot084.jpg

Hear his short speech at: http://powerlineblog.com/archives/016816.php

“Johnson’s plea to support the troops and fund the war effort was eloquent–too eloquent for most Democrats to want to hear it [who fled the chamber like rats]. He got a standing ovation from those in the House chamber, but note how few Democrats were willing to hear him speak. Note, too, that Johnson understands what the anti-surge resolution was really about: he denounces Jack Murtha’s “slow bleed” strategy, which is designed to starve Gen. Petraeus and his men of the support they need to succeed, and then seek political benefit from their failure. If you can watch this with dry eyes, you’re a tougher man than me:”

The House just completed voting, and has approved 246-182 the Democrats’ defeatist resolution. This was  expected: but the good news is, the 40-60 Republican defectors that the Democrats had been predicting failed to materialize. Only seventeen Republicans voted for the resolution — and two Democrats broke ranks to vote against it.

First,  let us recognize the two Democrats who did the right thing:

The “nonbinding resolution” telling the world that we intend to surrender to terrorism and abandon Iraq may be the most disgraceful congressional action since the Democratic Party united to defend slavery.

The vote was a huge morale booster for al Qaeda, for Iraq’s Sunni insurgents, and for the worst of the Shia militias.

The message Congress just sent to them all was, “Hold on, we’ll stop the surge, we’re going to leave – and you can slaughter the innocent with our blessing.”

We’ve reached a low point in the history of our government when a substantial number of legislators would welcome an American defeat in Iraq for domestic political advantage.

O’Reilly’s Producer Attempts to Elicit Response from NBC/Wash Post’s William Arkin Who Wrote That the Soldiers In Iraq are Mercenaries

This is way far more serious than a case of an isolated Leftist publishing anti-American, anti-military screed on an obscure web site.

NBC and the Washington Post have fraudulently published, endorsed and legitimized a known radical near-treasonous Leftist activist as a “Foreign Affairs Correspondent”

Sleeper Cells in the United States and Canada

“Terrorist sleeper cells are located primarily in North Carolina, Michigan, and Canada. The “sleepers” are prepared to conduct terrorist attacks within the U.S., and nuclear material is available to them. “Prepared” in this instance indicates they have the necessary tools to carry our their attacks and are prepared to die.”

The Liberal Dream: Public Education

Back in the old days, say about the time that Tocqueville was marveling at Americans and their voluntary associations, Americans educated their children in what we would now call diverse ways.  There were public schools.  There were charity schools.  There were city academies.  Schooling was a complete mish-mash, but Americans were about 90 percent literate, and parents could educate their children at the school of their choice.  Then along came Horace Mann with a better idea.  He persuaded the people of Massachusetts to centralize and rationalize their schools into a state-run system.
