What I don't understand is: how can you right a book about "Corruption" in the White House, and there has not even been one scandel yet? And further. How can you talk about Obama 6 months into his term. Let's figure that Mrs. Malkin wrote this maybe took her how long? Three months or dare I say it, 6 months? If that is so, would you not call that Pre-judgeing?

I skimmed portions of the Sally Pipes book linked above (http://liberty.pacificresearch.org/docLib/20081020_Top_Ten_Myths.pdf) and there is much to admire in her free-market-oriented philosophical positions and much good information presented.

However, I believe she commits an egregious oversight in giving the US health care "system" (which is demonstrably NOT a free market) a virtual pass by asserting (in contradiction to myth 2) that we are NOT spending too much on health care. We ARE we ARE we ARE! Every day in thousands of US medical offices and hospitals expensive drugs and therapies of questionable safety and efficacy are prescribed where safe, inexpensive and effective natural therapies could be used to better effect; the doctors being completely ignorant of these options because a) their medical training is a virtual infommercial for "big pharma" and the patented medical device industries for whom these natural therapies are financial Kryptonite, b) the AMA, FDA, and medical certification boards punish those who stray from the accepted procedures du jour, and c) doctors, who are flawed just like the rest of us, are tempted to prescribe expensive tests, drugs, and procedures that dramatically increase their profitablity, and "the system" assures them that in so doing they are acting in their patients' best interests.

The US health care system is a RACKET, folks! It is an industry and all industries need consumers for their products. The health care industry's product is not health but tests, drugs and procedures. That is why they bill you even if your health does not improve. Americans eat CRAP and abuse their bodies through indolence and vice, but their doctors say little about that because there is little profit in prevention. (On my numerous visits to China, the only place where I saw concentrations of overweight and usually young Chinese people was at Pizza Hut.) Doctors could and should become EXPERTS on good nutrition and exercise, PRESCRIBE them, and literally WITHHOLD publicly subsidized supplemental medical treatments from those who refuse to take that prescription. Type 2 diabetes, for example, is with rare exceptions preventable and reversable with no medical intervention! (If you are an MD, swallow your pride and talk to Dr. Julian Whittaker about this.) How empowering and affirming would it be to give diabetics the opportunity to save their own lives and limbs through knowledge and personal discipline?! Instead we create another pitiful dependent underclass, the only thing that contemptuous, patronizing, dehumanizing, self-congratulatory "establishments" such as the US health care system CAN create.

Rant over (for now).

As Hitler said "How lucky for those in power that people don't think."

I see this vapidity of thought and unwillingness to stick with values whenever I discuss my view on dating with my peers, who are dumbfounded to hear my restrictions on myself, such as never dating a girl I would not consider marrying, and never having sex before marriage. These are inhibitions make no sense to those who do not hold to my ethical monotheistic values.
